Nordkirchen Castle

The moated castle in Nordkirchen is considered one of the best examples of baroque architecture in Westphalia. Due to its dimensions and baroque design, it is also known as the “Westphalian Versailles”. Built at the beginning of the 18th century, the palace with its beautiful park has been declared worthy of protection by UNESCO as a “total work of art of international standing”. With more than 500,000 visitors per year, it is also one of the most visited sights in the region.

The baroque garden features numerous sculptures and statues – some dating back to the 18th century. The 16 km long way from the hotel to the castle can be easily reached by bike. Nordkirchen Castle is therefore perfect for a day trip. But you can also get a sense of the history and historical splendor on extended walks through the ample park landscape.
